Broadland Growth Ltd Development
R G Carter has been appointed to build 14 energy efficient houses in Hellesdon including six affordable homes created for Broadland Growth Ltd.
Planning permission has just been granted for the development on land owned by Broadland District Council and adjacent to its Carrowbreck Training centre on Drayton Road.
The development is a first for Broadland Growth Ltd. The company was set up by the District Council in partnership with NPS, which is part of the Norse group owned by Norfolk County Council. Its purpose is to generate income to support both councils’ services in the face of cuts in a manner which supports the Broadland’s vision of more jobs more homes and more opportunities for all in the district.
“Developing the site through Broadland Growth Ltd, means we and our public sector partners can use profits to support services to residents while ensuring any risk to public money is strictly limited,” said Broadland District Council Leader, Andrew Proctor. “We want to create desperately needed new homes for local people in an environmentally excellent fashion and by using appointing Carters as our contractor, we will also be supporting local employment.”

The homes will consist of two three bedroom and six four bedroom detached houses which will be sold on the open market and four two bedroom and two three bedroom semi-detached houses which will be offered on a shared equity basis with priority given to people with strong links to the Broadland.
