Prestigious RTPI Award win for Carrowbreck Meadow

Broadland Growth is delighted to announce that Carrowbreck Meadow won the Excellence in Planning to Deliver Housing category at the Royal Town Planning Institute’s (RTPI) Awards for Planning Excellence 2017.

These awards are the most established and respected awards in the UK planning industry, and celebrate exceptional examples of planning as well as the contribution planners make to society.

Chairman of Broadland Growth Limited and Broadland District Council Leader, Andrew Proctor, said, “Winning such a prestigious national award with our first development is a huge honour for Broadland Growth. The award is testimony to the excellent teamwork and vision of our planning teams working alongside design and building consultancy Hamson Barron Smith to deliver an innovative Passivhaus project that delivers excellence in housing.”

Andy Scales, Head of Planning Consultancy at NPS Group, said: ‘The site raised a number of planning policy and site specific challenges which have been successfully overcome to deliver well designed, innovative, mixed tenure housing scheme whilst maintaining the woodland character of the site.’

 

Nick Raynsford, former planning and housing minister and Chair of the RTPI Judging Panel, said: “We were impressed with the innovative and proactive approach taken and the excellent use of publicly owned land. With over 40% of affordable housing on the site, it is a great example of how innovation, quality and affordable housing could be delivered hand in hand.”
