New homes taking shape on the edge of Norwich have provided an unexpected learning boost for a creative group of A-level students from Thorpe St Andrew High School.
The students took part in a workshop run by professional interior designers who offered their time and expertise to mentor the students during the dressing of a show home at Broadland Growth Limited’s new Rosebery Fields development in Great Plumstead.
The students worked with K3 Interiors using samples to produce mood boards at the new property on the 22 home development by Broadland Growth Limited a joint venture company between Broadland District Council and NPS Group.
Students were shown how to use scale rules as well as how to think about colour, texture and design in dressing a home and creating a marketable product.
Karen Kerridge and Fiona Speed, who founded K3, also gave a talk to the students about how they started in interior design and how their company was set-up.
Broadland Growth Limited hopes to continue working with the students to offer them the opportunity to produce a unique piece of art or photography to display in the show home.
Trevor Holden, Director at Broadland Growth Ltd and Managing Director of Broadland and South Norfolk Councils, added: “We’re proud to play a part in enabling local students to broaden their skillsets and learn more about potential career paths. We hope to have some of the students’ work on display in the show home for our new Rosebery Road development.”

All of them were extremely creative and I’m sure we will see some of them take a design path in their future careers.
